What stacks with what
Most modular tool storage only locks onto its own brand. These are the exceptions: systems that share a latch, and the adapters that join two that don't. Every pair below cites its source, and a pair we can't source isn't listed.

| DeWalt ToughSystem 2.0 + DeWalt ToughSystem 2.0 DXL | directly | confirmed | “Connect and stack TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 modules from the top or bottom using patented auto-connect front latches.” dewalt.com ↗DXL is the larger size of ToughSystem 2.0. |
| Festool Systainer3 + Makita MakPac | directly | confirmed | “Compatible with Festool, Systainer and other similar systems.” makitatools.com (archived) ↗Read from the Internet Archive's 2026-09-19 copy of Makita's MAKPAC page. Makita does not name a Systainer generation. |
| Festool Systainer3 + Metabo MetaLoc | directly | reported | “Several power tool manufacturers use or offer Systainer-compatible variants.” en.wikipedia.org ↗Wikipedia lists Metabo MetaLoc among the Systainer-compatible variants; MetaLoc cases were made by Tanos, the Systainer maker. |
| Makita MakPac + Metabo MetaLoc | directly | reported | “Boxes from different manufacturers are compatible and can be stacked and clipped together.” en.wikipedia.org ↗Both are listed as Systainer-compatible variants. |
| Metabo metaBOX + Metabo MetaLoc | adapter: Metabo metaBOX multi-adapter plate, 626900000 | confirmed | “Suitable for Metabo MetaLOC, Systainer Classic/T-LOC, Hikoki HIK-System, Makita MAKPAC, Sortimo/Bosch L-BOXX and Dewalt T-STAK.” metabo.com ↗metaBOX does not latch to T-LOC Systainers on its own. |

The lineups differ, but the pieces lock together. |
| HART Stack System + Keter Stack-N-Roll | directly | inferred | amazon.com ↗Same maker, same part number: Amazon lists the HART Stack System under Keter's model number 250927, the number Keter gives its own Stack & Roll system (keter.com/en-gb, 250927), and Keter makes HART's plastic storage (ToolGuyd, 2022). Neither brand says in so many words that the two lock together. |
"Confirmed" means the brand's own page says it; "reported" means a hands-on test or reference source does; "inferred" means the evidence points to it without anyone stating it. How we handle stacking claims.
